History at Home
Overview
The Iowa State University Library Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA) received $6,286 from the Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area General Grant Program in 2019. This grant program funds projects dedicated to telling America’s agricultural stories.
Together, SCUA and Preservation, digitized, restored, and screened archival agricultural films from SCUA collections as a pilot project in the summer and fall of 2019.
In collaboration with local Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area Partner Sites, the University Library helped develop tailored events that shared homegrown stories via unique Iowa-centric film collections.

Community Archival Film Screenings
The work of film archivist Jane Paul (January 19, 1958–November 13, 2018) inspired this project. Paul spent her career collecting, curating and presenting film content, tailored for regional, and multicultural, New Zealand audiences.
